I work with a child 2.11 with Downs Syndrome and one of his difficulties is that he is not yet eating solids. Usually he will lick the biscuit but today he licked,kissed, puth the biscuit in his mouth and bit it!!! I was over the moon...

He also actually understood a command that I gave him and did it wooo.

Little victories.

as you say, little victories... but then another little victory comes along, and aother, and eventually, slowly slowly - it's a HUGE victory!

I know its great he is a fantastic little boy who is a pleasure to work with.

Oh Sali is there any way you can clone yourself to work with all of our children?

Ha Ha would love to roundthebend I dont think so , I know it is a corny but I love the children I work and have worked with, each one is a special individual.
My first job I took was with a child with social and emotional difficulties I learned so so much from him and even though he could be a pain in the bum challenging it made me relise how much I love working with children who have difficulties because when you have breakthrough like today it lifts you for days.

You're right sali, I'm still on a high from the morning my ds said 'oh dear, wee wee in bed'. Communication like I'd never heard before. I'd have washed the sheets a thousand times for that.

Update the child I support did it again kissed licked and ate a bit of bicuit wooo hoo!
