I need a vehicle which will accomodate my son in his convaid cruiser buggy plus driver and 3 passengers. some space for luggage etc would be useful too.

Im driving myself crazy looking at makes and models and checking out the specifications to them all,its making my head spin.

Anyone have anything similar that they would recommend?

thats exactly what Im thinking Riven, Dont want a bigger juice gurgler than necessary. Ill take a look at the kangoo.

Why you do recommend wheelcahir between seats? Just becuase its nicer for them than being stuck in the boot or os there another reason.

Thanks

Remember that you have to keep the WAV for 5 years so project forward to what you might need to carry wheelchair-wise then. Head-height when seated in chair was our deciding factor.

We have a short wheelbased WV Van, seats 3 in front, 2 one behind the other in rear, plus large power wheelchair. We have manual ramp plus a winch in case wheelchair battery goes.

Plusses: can carry as much luggage as we like on holidays etc, and it gets use for all sorts of other reasons!
I never need to lift her out of chair to get into vehicle (she's darned heavy and awkward)

downside: gas-guzzler. Takes a bit of getting used to for parking.

However, I don't really have an alternative as dd2 has a very large power wheelchair which will only fit into a large van.

Ask your OT what chair you might be using in 3 or 4 years time?

I need to continue the search then, thankd for your comments.

I need to find one with 3 seats in the front and two in the back with DS being able to sit between the two rear seats.

Sliding doors if possible.

adaquate boot space for stuff when going on holiday as wont be holidaying abroad for the forseeable future - if ever !!

Peugeot Expert is probably your best bet, a few companies do them, Allied, GM Coachworks, Gowrings etc, the nicest one ive seen is the Constables one, they have removed the original seats in the back but have replaced them with decent sized seats which recline, most companies just stick in narrow fixed seats

We had a Ford Galaxy before the VW van - no way could we get dd2 and her chair in there so thats why we went for the van. There are 5 of us to fit in, so the Kangoo was just too small for us. Dd2's chair must be bigger than yours Riven? She doesn't stand up so has to be wheeled in.

I've just had a look at the Independance - can you really get a large wheelchair and 4 other people and luggage in that? It looks too small!

What's the distance bewteen the two rear seats for the wheelchair to fit into? My dh would struggle to do up the buckle in anything small as he is very tall - a disadvantage in this case.

I'll agree they are all too expensive.

we have a renault master, it is the biggest WAV you can get.
the problem with a lot of WAV's is headroom as your child gets older.

Riven That's impressive - your height and the WAV!

Lourobert - are you any closer to your decision?

I always wante a grand voyager.
glad I didn't get one now(boy they were dear) went in my friends a while back and although it is lovely, when her dd is in it she is right at the back,
I hate that idea.
dd is right behind me.

Fiat Scudo/ Fiat Scudo Combi can have 3 in front, 2 in back with wheelchair between, sliding doors and a lot of boot space.

Thats what we've gone for.

(Im assuming good looks is really not a priority in your WAV )
