Hi everyone, i posted a couple of months ago re asking DLA to reconsider DS award.
Anyhow, I sent the letter of to DLA along with supporting letters from paed, physio, lead prof ect.
The Dla have wrote back to me asking why i didnt appeal in the time frame they given me (its actualy been 7 months). My reason is that although i wasnt happy with the decision at the time i felt it hard to prove that ds needed significant more care than a child his age and this was also advised to me by the welfare rights officer who helped fill in the app. Also this was early when therapies were not in place, now since then we know he has language and speech delay, has regular physio,ot, regular visits to gait clinc ect.
Since then though its now so much more obv that he needs much more attention than other children.
Do you think this is a valid enough reason or is there certain things they look for, thank you for reading, just hate filling these things in, tokk me ages to get letter together and now that sickness feeling is coming all over again .

I think you might want to say what is probably the truth which is you were so busy dealing with your DS needs and understanding the scope of his needs that you didn't have the time or the understanding to request the review and provide the additional information. Now you are in that position this is why you are dealing with it.
If they say it's too late after the decision, then fill in the form again and write the same as before but add where relevant the new information. These forms are dire but remember that what matters is the extra money it brings which you can use for therapies and other expenses. Also you can download a form which you can write and save so that you don't have to hand write it every time. Good luck and bear with it!
