Can some one please claify for me the position on how you request an educational psycologist assessment. I have been told if the i ask the school to request the assessment there are no time limits that they have to adhere to in arranging that assessment. However if I request direct from the LEA the assessment has to be completed within 6 months. Is that correct> Ds is waiting for an en EP assessment and have been waiting since before september. I requested the school for an assessment, which they agreed to arrange. Where do I stand on complaining and getting the assessment. If I moved school would the process have to start again? Thanks in advance - DS is 7 btw.

I don't think there is any basis in Law, but I would get the contact details from your EP department and then phone and ask if they have ever even heard of your ds.

Requestiong a Statutory Assessment often pulls them out of the woodwork too, as there are time limits on that.

As with all these things, the more of a fuss you make the quicker these people see you.

Ask the school for a copy of the referral letter too!

I have spoken to them and they have him on their list to see. There are other children still waiting and he is behind those children. Inspite of the outside learning support person who was working with him in school saying he definitely needed the assessment too.
