SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Feeling a bit fed up.. Lists of needs.. Or what you deal with on a daily basis

Just going through ds2 current issues and stratagies that we use on a daily or more than daily basis... Ready for ed psych and other appointments coming up.
Already the list is long.. I'm sure I have missed things.. We keep putting it down and then remembering more.

Most of these things if not all we just do on automatic pilot.. Although I seriously count ourselves lucky as it could be a whole lot more / more serious..

I'm feeling rather down that ds's needs for his age are so extensive.. And the list keeps growing!

Does anyone else shock themselves at the amount that actually has to be done.. ( when written down).. So that their child can basically function in the world as such?

Yep, having to constantly manipulate and stay one step ahead is exhausting enough.

Not to mention the, being punched

Headbutted

Bitten

Verbally abused

Spat at

Having chunks of my hair ripped out

The social exclusion.

I'm finding it harder as they get older tbh, but that's the way my life is.

pants isn't it.

Don't mind doing any of it at all tbh.. But it's just sad to see how much he needs..

I blame writing it down.. I was happy enough without five A4 sheets of issues.. And how we keep him going!

Needs must.. And hopfully it may shorten

If we/I could take away the sensory and anxiety issues my life would be a lot easier, dd sleeps with ear defenders on ffs !

This is what I like about the sn board.. Sleeping with ear deffenders on.. Is just that.. ( try putting that in aibu )
when making my list I didn't realise how many sensory issues we actually deal with. ( although lucky to escape ear deffenders )..

Anxiety.. That one seems to constantly change ... Last year everything was too much for ds2.. Throughout the year with a lot of hard work it is better.. But it can flare up at anytime so we are constantly on the lookout for triggers.
But you have my utter understanding.

wow - ear defenders to sleep in, what a fab idea.
my ds has them for school but sleeping a nightmare at the moment, he is not dropping off till 10.30ish.
I am going to bring them home tomorrow and try them in bed. Thanks for that ApocalyseCheese!

The ear defenders have been life changing, we went to Euro disney las year and I really think if I hadnt brought them with me we'd have had to come home because ds was so violent.
