Raun Kaufman,the reason why the Son Rise program emerged in the first place is doing a speaking tour of the UK including Scotland and Belfast.

Anybody doing Son Rise ??

For those who arent familiar with the Son Rise program or who havent read the Kaufman's books, Raun is the son of the Kaufmans who had autism and through their self made "therapy" and love brought a boy back "into our world". Raun who had an IQ of 30 and was written off by medical "experts" is now studying biomedical ethics at browns university and will be speaking throughout the UK about his experiences.

Went to one of these a couple of years ago as a proffessional - I used to run a Therapeutic Intervention Programme - and now cant even spell it! - for children with autism. Just don't get your hopes up too much - it was interesting but there was a LOT and I mean a LOT of hard sell and she adds in a whisper (am not convinced that is original programme only draws on many others, very similar to what we were doing for free!) runs away scared of being battered!

This has been discussed on MN a lot in the past (mostly negatively). He is always on the circuit so these "opportunities" come up quite often.
