Had a phone call today from consultant's secretary. Straight away I could tell it wasn't great, she had her "bad news" voice on..

Background - DD (3.7) had major regression of speech at 2.10, has always had issues with muscle tone, balance, motor skills.

So she had MRI and genetic testing and EEG/brain stem tests in March as they suspected metabolic illness/Landau Kleffner/atypical Rett syndrome (although she presents with ASD).

Anyway the secretary said both the neurology Dr and the autism professor want to meet us TOGETHER next tuesday.

I asked if I should bring DD, and said if it was something upsetting I didn't want her there..she said "that is what I am wondering, i am trying to ask the professor".

She also said "they have lots of information".

I asked if we could find anything out before Tuesday as we are basically worried sick and she said she would get the Professor to call me tomorrow "to lay the foundations".

It doesn't sound good, does it.

Am a mess.

Would be better if, when we were at the hospital, DH hadn't helpfully pointed out the secret PS the professor had written to the neurologist saying they wanted to test for Rett as well, obviously they didn't want to worry us, and he blithely showed me.

Grrr at phones space bar ..

I don't know which number to call, prof has gone away somewhere else apparently taking DDs notes and intending to call us....aargh.

A nice thing is DD has been lying on me and cuddling me all day, she has been sick so is v cuddly, its very comforting though, I am being cuddled to bits!!

that dd is poorly.. But lovely that your getting smuggles.. And I hopethat call comes soon for you x

something weird just happened, the phone started to ring, but then I answered it and noone there, like someone had started to call us and got cut off. Hope it wasn't them and they couldn't get through.

dammit, I think I hung up by mistake as i was in such a tizz. then DH called the line to see if it was working so his is the last number.

Oh just a thought.. If you have secretarys ( sp) number you could ask her to get a reminder message to him

i pressed the hang up button instead of answering ...then I tried 1471 so theyd have got engaged tone if they tried again. HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID.

its all very weird though, there is no number stored on our caller display apart from DH's.

how could i forget to answer my phone, I was just in such a state.

DH said it didn't properly ring and was a blip on the line. This is the state they have got me into with this waiting though, i can't even answer the phone.

I do think I hung up on them, what a total and utter idiot. Have prob blown it for today.

Hopefully he will try again and just assume it was a connection issue Fanjo.
