A strange query, but I'm sure someone here will have the answer!!

DD2 is almost 3, she currently sleeps in a grobag in a cot. She is getting so big now, our grobags are just too tight and too small.

I know if I put a blanket over her she would just kick it off and be unable to pull it back on, or even know to do it if she got cold.

I know this seems quite petty but DD2 has the physical ability of a 9 month old, which is why she wouldn't be able to pull it back on herself.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep her warm?

Would a sleeping bag be any good or is she likely to slide too far down one?

Weighted blanket?

Fleece sleepsuits? BHS has them up to 6 yrs I think.

Maybe a custom made sleep bag for her size?

Would one of these fit in a cot? It looks as if there is plenty of flat sheet on each side that would tuck under the mattress.

they do grobags in bigger sizes now I think.

They did when i was wondering this a couple fo years ago for dd1. bumpto3 had them up to age 6, I think.

bumpto3 also do sheet/duvet sets where the duvet zips onto the sheet, so your dd wouldn't be able to kick it off - any good?

my dd1 also didn't understand pulling a blanket up - she would get out of bed to look out of the window,and not know how to get back in!

I have ended up with fleece sleepsuits for dd1, with extra pyjamas over or under (or both!) if cold. also moccasin type slippers (hardot get sleepsuits with feet for her now she is nearly 6) there is a company that makes them in bigger sizes too, but expensive.

I also have put (in the past, she just won't have it!) a duvet on the bed for her to lie o - I figured she would at least get some warmth from it.

she now has a fleece blanket on the bed,and lots of teddies, which she seems to burrow amongst.

Thank you all, some great suggestions. I think we're probably safer to stick to a bigger gro bag (had no idea they went over 3 yrs). The duvet set looks a great idea, and think we'll definately get that when I know she can wriggle out if she ever slipped under (a way off from this I think).

I'll be purchasing some fleece sleepsuits too, I've never found any over 2 yrs, then again I've never looked in BHS so thank you for that too.

I got a gro bag for dd at tk max in age 3-6 years, hth.

Sleeping bag with a single sheet tucked over the bottom of it to stop her 'falling in'

there are a few 3-6 years girls grobags on ebay at the moment. Also what about those clips that go under the matress and hold duvets in place.

Thanks for all your suggestions, it's good to know I won't be going in to check on her every 5 mins to put her blanket on or check she's not got herself stuck under some covers.

mothercare do fleece sleepsuits up to 6 years old too.

and I found some cotton ones (dd1needs all in ones to stop her fiddling with nappy overnight) upto age 6 in Polarn O Pyret too.

I agree silverfrog, all in 1 cotton would be good for the summer as DD2 also likes to fiddle with her nappy (or play with the contents ).

they also fit better underfleece suits in winter for warmth.

Just adding to what you've already been told - DS2 is 4 and sleeps in an age 3-6 grobag. They're also available for 6+. We usually buy them from bump to 3.

Big Grobag here too. The 3-6 actually comes up quite large, DD1 is 6 and nowhere near too big for hers yet.

another option is the flannel sleepsuit

as she gets bigger unless shes sleeping in a really cold room or has major cuirculation issues there really really warm

Gro bag now do one for 6 to 12years and are much the same size of an adult sleeping bag!

Dd2 (4) has fleece sleep suits, she won't keep blankets on (hates being covered up. I think as long as they are kept warm (keep the room warm and give them warm pj's) then the lack of blankets doesn't really matter.

My DD - also nearly 3 is still using a gro-bag. I got one for £10 from TK Maxx age 18 mths to 4 yrs. She is quite tall and still has lots of room in it.

Has anyone suggested you contact Fledglings? I'm sure they do lots of this sort of stuff. Also, Primark does all-in-one fleecy sleepsuits.

Duvet strap (elastic strap with rubber duvet traps on either end - goes under the matress or bed)came from Blooming Marvelous. Do not know if still available.

Thank you all for your great suggestions. I never even knew half this stuff existed. DH and I read over this thread and checked out all the links and I think we've decided DD2 is going to be in gro bags for a while as she's safe in them, then move onto the zip up duvet set that was suggested, however I've just seen your post magso so will look into the duvet straps too. We'll find some all in one sleep suits for the colder weather too.
