People with SN on holiday in Spain

I just had to share with you.
Just had 10 days in Santa Pola in Spain, not far from Alicante.
I saw, approx, at least 2 people with SN per day, all different people, never the same people twice. I saw at least 8 people with DS during our time there, others with other SN's and there were many people using wheelchairs and I have to say the wheelchair access was fantastic, everywhere.
Anyway, I just thought it was great and thought I'd tell you.

TC, don't you have a dd?

lunavix · 31/07/2005 21:39

oh

lunavix · 31/07/2005 21:39

please ignore me!

coppertop · 31/07/2005 21:39

Wow! It obviously has a very good reputation then.

Hope you had a really good holiday. xx

lunavix · 31/07/2005 21:40

But it does sound fantastic. Was it advertised as a SN type holiday? Or did you stumble across it?

Thomcat · 31/07/2005 21:49

Lunavix, yes I do have a DD. What am I ignoring, you have me confused!
No it wasn't a SN holiday or anything, it's just an area in Spain that our friends live. It was just great to see so many people with various SN, esp for m e on a personal level to see so many teenage/young people with DS and to see such fab wheelchair access everywhere.

think luna got confused with ds and DS

lunavix · 31/07/2005 21:51

I won't explain my stupidity!!!!

I'm glad you had a good time, did lottie enjoy herself?

SenoraPostrophe · 31/07/2005 21:54

wow - that is very unusual for Spain (the wheelchair access I mean). Glad you had a good time

potty1 · 31/07/2005 21:56

TC - we've just got back from Majorca and there was a teenager with DS at our apartments. She was an ace swimmer, really confident.

Thomcat · 31/07/2005 21:56

Luna

Lottie had the BEST time, OMG, don't even get me started on that girl, she was the best thing about the entire trip, she was out of this world.

Well I was massively impressed SP, ramps EVERYWHERE.

(thank you misdee, I didn't want to point out being stupid when it's glaringly obvious!)

I'm so glad TC, a friend has a little girl with DS, and she says when she's had a great time it shines brighter than when her ds (with no SN) has had just as great a time... seems both the most amazing day and a fantastic victory for all the effort they all put in on the average days.

whymummy · 01/08/2005 06:29

glad you had a nice holiday thomcat,it's not unusual at all, there's lots of ramps, special phone boxes for wheelcair users and access to the beach where i come from too
