OMG OMG! LEA has caved in - we won!!!!!

Title says it all.

Our LEA has named dd1's school on her statement.

So, we have won placement at an ABA school, without going to Tribunal.

I can't believe it.

We heard a couple of weeks ago tha they were willingto name the school, but being just a little bit cynical, could not bring ourselves to celebrate ntil we had the relevant bit of paper.

It has just come through

dd1 has made so much progress in the term she has been there it's unbelievable, and now she can stay for a while (well, until the LEA try to shift ehr out at annual review )

BUT, for now (to paraphrase one of my favourite childhood books) "the sun is shining, and the grass is green, and the silverfrog household is going to get pissed is the happiest household in the world"

Oh wow - well done! Now you can stop moving around the county!!
Enjoy your bottle (s) of wine tonight!

silverfrog · 28/04/2010 17:30

Thanks everyone.

hairymaclary - we'll probably stay put for a little while now .Ironically, dd1's school is in KEnt, but we can't return to Kent without re-starting statementing - and we're not going there again in a hurry!

And wouldn't you know, dh is working late tonight I'll just have to lay into the wine all by myself

WOW!!!!!! That is one bit of amazing news. Frame it

silverfrog · 28/04/2010 18:52

am still ing loads - can't believe the week we are having.

we moved house last week. the new house is great, both girls feel at home straight away - dd1 has really taken to it, and didn't batan eyelid at themove

dd2 has potty trained herself overnight (she is 3 , but had resisted my admittedly half-hearted attempts until now)

despite the upheaval of the move, dd1 has decided that going to bed again is ok. and so the year long ordeal of sitting with her until she goes to sleep is over (for now, cautiously touches wood). we now bung her in bed at 7pm ish, close the door and come downstairs again (had previously been sitting outside her door for up to 3 hours!) and dd1 goes straight to sleep

and now the statement.

I think I mightbuy a lottery ticket this week - ourluck isobviously in

Fabulous news! Well done, silverfrog. I think that deserves a bottle of champagne!

BriocheDoree · 28/04/2010 19:21

Glad it's going so well for you. Frankly you needed a bit of continuity with DD1's schooling didn't you?
We are still waiting with bated breath for place at an autism unit where DD went for extremely succesful 2 week observation period. But we might still have to wait to get a place because there's only 15 places for kids aged 6 to 12 in our entire "department" (county)

catski · 28/04/2010 19:22

Congratulations - that's great news!! Am very pleased for you all.

silverfrog · 28/04/2010 19:51

Brioche, yes, stability has been lacking alittle! THis is dd1's 3rd school, and she's only 5... MInd you, I realised the other day that this is the 5th house she's lived in - now that is shocking. (especially since we lived in one house for 3 years, and definitely haven't spent the other 2 years hopping between th other 4! head explodes)

Good news about the autism unit assessment for your dd. Is there any way you can speed up the wait? any official reports you can have done, am thinking Ed Psych wise. Would they even accept them over there? At least you know what you want to fight for now, though. THe hardest bit for us was having to accept what everyone else told us was best for dd1. As soon as we started ABA with her we knew what we would end up fighting for. Imo, that odes make the fight a little easier, having a proper end goal.

Really pleased to hear your news - gives me hope that the LEA may pull out and save us going to Tribunal, but no sign of it yet....
