DD is being 'Assessed' tomorrow - I'm not sure what that means

I have been invited (no letter - there should be a letter but there was a note in her school diary)

She is been assessed by the Sensory Support Team/Lady

I'm not sure I want her assessed - I'm a bit scared

Is it important?

How much of a difference will it make that it is a psycholoical?

Go early and ask for a meeting with the visitor beforehand to explain exactly what it is she will be doing.

If she doesn't have time to meet with you AND assess then get the assessment postponed.

It is YOUR child and you are within your rights to do this. Assessment with withdrawn consent is assult

AngryWasp · 25/04/2010 22:36

If it helps, and you feel too rushed, write a letter saying you do not give consent for your dd to be assessed at the moment but will be willing to meet with the assessor and the school if they feel that it would benefit her.

You don't need to feel railroaded. Just calmly take control of the situation.

I don't feel that unsure about it - I am just wobbling

I'm sure it will be fine - I just don't know (iyswim)

You will be fine! You do want her assessed! If she is not assessed, noone can help her! She will be fine!

Don't panic, in my experience these people are very nice. Do tell her you feel nervous.

Good luck!

A very mixed meeting tbh

She may be able to borrow a laptop from sensory support but we would need to buy the software so that it mirrors the one at school

& she is to be taught touch typing at school but taken out of lessons to learn

Oh & she is getting a statement when the SENCO gets back from the volcano
