Am i the only one to have missed lib dems proposals to reform sen system?

Having skim read each parties' manifestos to find any mention of SEN, i had missed any reference to it. I then e-mailed my local candidates and heard back from the lib dem candidate, who advised that on page 34 under "your life" it states that they will:

"Guarantee SEN diagnostic assessments for all 5 year olds, improve SEN provision and improve SEN training for all teachers".

He has acknowledged that this is only one line and doesn't explain how it will be done, but advised that there was a lot of detail that didn't make it into the manifesto as he knows some of the team who worked on these policy areas.

Not sure how the guarantee will apply to those of us with SEN children over the age of 5 that still haven't been assessed ( DD's now 8!) but at least there's some mention of the SEN system.

LD also are agianst changing teh DLA system to one wher funding is amnaged by SSD, meaning that people who do not qualify for SSD support will continue to be able to receive DLA (that would be us then, although finally coming out to assess ds3 at teh end of next month a year post dx and after starting SNU- ds1 is considered not to meet definition despit also on potential snu lisdt and getting hr care, sods our local ssd)

Of the 3 I found LD's most forthcoming about sn / carer policy; against the graion tories second in that even if I dont like them they did respond with more than a 'can you email a different sept for this please' message LOL

Serves me right for skim-reading - had missed this aswell. Think i might read their manifesto in more detail.

Good luck with the DLA assessment. We had no problems with the DLA but think they recognise uncontrolled epilepsy. We're having a nightmare with statementing though!

Ah we ahve DLA atm (One at HR one at MR) but renewal for ds1 was what I ws worried about IYSWIM
