Anyone experienced emotional problems weaning child off lamotrigine?

My DD has been on lamotrigine and Carbamazepine for 3 and a half years. She's still uncontrolled epileptic. New consultant wants to try new drug so we're currently weaning her off lamotrigine. She's 8 but desperately emotional since weaning began - toddler style tantrums, sobbing uncontrollably and highly over sensitive.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does it subside after weaning complete?

Thanks for this. She was a nightmare going on it aswell and couldn't tolerate higher doses. She kept saying that she wanted her world to end which we found quite distressing (she was only just 5!).

Only a couple more weeks to go on the weaning, so I'm hoping there's light at the end of the tunnel.
