Glitteryboys adventure weekend!

Had a lovely time at the Calvert trust centre with the Special kids gang, weather was a bit rubbish but he really enjoyed the abseiling and zipwire and was all chuffed with himself when he got the top score in the first round of the archery!

we left the canoeing to the others when glitteryboy went a funny colour and started puking everywhere, we were only on the jetty but it was a bit choppy and it was swaying about, think he might have been a bit seasick!

heres a few pics

His smile is just amazing! Glad he had a nice time, I had to gile at his little squashed face in the life jacket.

SMacK · 06/04/2010 16:39

Lovely.

Great pics - shame weather wasn't better. I take it that's a winch getting him up that slope? Or are you superhuman?

glittery · 06/04/2010 17:01

yeah it was a winch and that aint me pushing him...i dont do heights!

Well done getting him out there - it takes some organising, doesn't it!

We're taking dd2 skating next weekend - seems tame in comparison!

LollipopViolet · 06/04/2010 17:28

sorry for the mini hijack, but melted, I'm taking my mate skating (possibly on Monday) so if you're going before then, any info would be awesome (tis for my film you see, there's a thread somewhere!)

Great pics glittery, good to see him having a ball! I wouldn't abseil or zip wire so he's braver than me!

meltedmarsbars · 06/04/2010 17:37

LollipopV Erm, dd2 can't exactly skate - she'll be in her wheelchair, the rest of us will be on skates! (Tamworth snowdome, fyi)

LollipopViolet · 06/04/2010 18:51

Melted, my friend uses a wheelchair too She's said if the hire skates support her ankles enough though she's gonna give it a go! I've skiied at Tamworth, never been on the ice rink though.

melted "Well done getting him out there - it takes some organising, doesn't it!"

actually no organising at all really, you just hand them over to the instructors, they were all fabulous!

lollipop "I wouldn't abseil or zip wire so he's braver than me!"

see im quite happy to fling my boy down a zipwire but not brave enough to don a pair of skates and get him on the ice!

That's a lot of climbing harness to wrap round one small boy! glad he and you had a good trip.

roundthebend4 · 07/04/2010 08:42

anonandlikeit · 07/04/2010 16:34

Wow fantastic, my NT 10 yr old has just said he wants to go... Every boys idea of a great weekend & what a smile!

glittery · 07/04/2010 17:18

it was fabulous anon! we had about 20 families in all, and the activities were suitable for all the kids (NT & SN) and the parents too!
there was a bar in the lounge and we all sat together in the evening, fabulous time and we are going to book to go back next year!
