about a month ago we got dd a VOCA(voice output communication aid) it cost a fortune(over £5000 for the Voca alone then there were all the extras) one of the extras was a screen guard thing, so that when she is using it as a touch screen it is easier, this cost a lot about £100. now when we met with the rep and SALT he told us we needed to get a 20 slot one, so as we knew nothing, we just ordered what he(backed by the SALT) told us we needed.
fast forward to my training day and we are told no we need a 30 slot one!!!
so WWYD??
would you ask the rep to swap the existing one(that dh had to file the edges of as it cut dd's finger)
or what.........
I really don't want to spend another £100

I think if the rep told you that you needed a particular spec, then you have been mis-sold the product. I would be asking that they swap them.

I would ask them to swap. As a rep he should know what he is telling you is right and so blame him all the way

claw3 · 19/03/2010 10:01

No harm in asking him to swap it and if he agrees, just dont mention the filed edges!

claw3 · 19/03/2010 10:03

or ask him to swap it as it is was damaged when you got it, someone had filed the edges off

Defo ask him to swap it, filing or not. The rep got it wrong and you shouldn't be out of pocket. Stand your ground and don't be bullied if they say otherwise.

thanks, i have asked the SALT to have a word.
but if it is a case of paying we will have to, adding the 10 slots has made such a difference, if you imagine every page now has 10 more options, it is so much better,

Wow, that's a lot of money for something so small and simple really...

Right daft question now 2shoes, I remember you saying your dd had a communication book, is a VOCA like a computer version of that? I've tried googling for demos etc but I'm struggling!

2shoes · 19/03/2010 23:51

yes think steven hawkins.
the book is slow and doesn't "speak" this gives her a voice.
