Melatonin, a friend, now a foe?

Hi,
I was so excited after our first week on melatonin. MY 2.7 dd, whose sleep issues resulted in her getting up for an hour each night after bedtime, went to sleep without any problem. Pre-melatonin she joined us in bed at 4h00 am and fell asleep right away, but now, and that is our problem, she is wide awake from 1h00 to 3h00 every day.

Anyone has had that problem?

txs

We have had problems too, pre melatonen, dd2 took 3 hours to go to sleep and would wake up once in the night (sometimes twice) but would settle back down. First 2 weeks on Melatonin she would be asleep within 20 minute's (great) and wake once in the night, after a few weeks she started waking 2-3 times in the night and sometimes would not go back to sleep even if i gave her more melatonin, we had a few nights where she woke at 2am and stayed awake (didn't sleep until 9pm the next night). So now we are bac to no melatonin, 3 hours to settle but only waking once or twice in the night .

She has been refered to a sleep specialist so we shall see what they say.

Marne,
I hear about slow release versus regular, have you tried the slow release with your dd?

Right now we give her 3mg (don't have the brand name with me...).

Anyone else had this experience of waking in the night and not going back to sleep?

thank you

We havn't tied the slow release, she has to see the pead in a few weeks so i might ask if we can try it.
