We're quite unique with regards family history, here's a lowdown

My niece has severe autism, gdd, adhd and epilepsy

My nephew has severe autism, gdd, adhd, tourettes and epilepsy.

Both are non verbal and extremely violent.

My two have fared slightly better,dd has adhd and autism, i'd describe her autism as mid range, neither high or low functioning.

Ds has severe autism and gdd, he is verbal thankfully but can be aggressive.

I have never heard of another family like ours, it's bloody hard work and being honest at times I hate the entire situation, I carry a constant guilt as I am unable to help out my dsis as much as i'd like to.(she's a single parent)

In all the support groups etc we have joined we have never heard of any other family in this situation, is there anybody else out there like us ?

Hi Swiss,

We are a similar family.

My Niece has autism, my daughter (5) Asperger Syndrome and my son (7) has autism and severe dyspraxia/reflux oesophagitis/hyperacusis/IBS. My 7 month old baby has hip dysplasia and my hubby is in the military, deployed next week for 7 nailbiting months.
I understand how you feel XXX

DD1 has HFA, DH has cancer, DD2 is being assessed atm. I have a heart condition.
BIL had heart transplant, and his dd has allergys, and other possible ASD.
Niece has ADHD and CP, nephew has CP and possible ASD.

Not sure I can match you two, but here goes...

DS (13) has SLD/physical disabilities/Visual Impairment/ASD/challenging behaviour.
Neice has possible Aspergers, anorexia and mental health problems.
Uncle has Aspergers.
Brother-in-Law has schitzophrenia and is currently suicidal.

There are a number of siblings/twins in DS SLD school who are both ASD/SLD and challenging.

It's a crap situation.

Dd1- Aspergers and dyspraxia
dd2- Autism
Dh -Aspergers (but no dx)
DSS - ADHD (but no dx due to him refusing to see anyone)

I can also see AS in DSD and my dad is clearly on the spectrum.

My dad, mad professor, probably Aspergers (committed suicide)

My brother, severe ASD, non verbal, partially sighted, deaf, severe brain damage (ended up in a wheelchair) (died of leukemia)

Ds3 ASD and 'gifted' (for what its worth)

Life is a bitch at times.

DS1 - autism, ADHD. Quite the whirlwind - can be aggressive. Also gifted!
DS2. Autism. Hypotonia/Hypermobility. Non verbal, but usually quite placid, thankfully.
Nephew. Autism, but very high functioning.
Brother. Undiagnosed, but definitely Aspergers.
Uncle. Definitely autistic. Severe speech impediment.
Grandfather. Also definitely autistic, not that I met him beyond my first few weeks of life, since he was such a misanthrope.

So, definitely a mixed bag, but more than our fair share of spectrummy stuff. Plenty of traits of my own, to be honest.
