Wondering if anyone has got extra money like this ds was meant to go to speech unit but they said ds will need extra help in afternoon when he is in ms classroom because of his severe speech and pd above and beyond what they can provide from speech unit funding

Hertz are looking at taking it back to panel see if we can but it's not looking good even though all agree. Ds primary need is speech

If all agree then even if the panel say no, you would have a good chance at Tribunal. If that's what's needed, that's what's needed. What alternative are they offering?

My dd3 goes to a hearing impaired unit within a ms school, she gets extra funding for 1:1 support on top, it can be done. She does not fit the units usual children as she has additional needs on top of being deaf and that is why she is funded. The school said they wouldn't take her without it and as the lea didn't want to send her out of borough (the only alternative) they coughed up. I'm still to be convinced this is the right placement but that's a hole other story

That's the problem itsvthat or back to ms but ms has already failed all agreed on that

his pd are not serious enough need pd school but his cognitave devlopement rules out special

really do not want him back to ms

yes the unit is out of county but is only 5miles from me in county placements are other end of county ,it's not lea for once they agreed to placement without fight

it's the school saying they can't provide seems having ds would blow there budget .wonder if it's something can win at tribunal

If ds needs extra 1:1, it needs to go in his Statement and school & LA could fight out who'd pay. Especially since it's out-of-borough, I can see why school want the extra funding and I think you'd have a strong case at Tribunal, tbh.

i work in a unit for deaf children and if a pupil has additional needs, then the funding for these is additional. i can't see how the panel can envisage a placement for your ds where funding will not be needed for both his physical needs and his language needs.

Thank you was what hoping to hear

Everyone agrees that ds is complex and so does not sit nicely on anyones crotera for schools and that speech is his primary need and will be long term placement
