Elastic waist jeans in Tesco

I'm really pleased to have found a great pair of jeans for ds with an elastic top in Tesco age 10-11. I've been having more and more trouble finding trousers for him as he can't manage buttons etc and he is big for his age. I don't want him to wear jogging bottoms the whole time. Just thought some other people might find them useful too.

I would like to email Tesco and say how useful they are to encourage them a bit (I will want a bigger pair soon!) but I can't find an address anywhere.

Pixel, my ds (7) has trouble with fastenings too, but is in around age 10 clothes.

We got the Tesco jeans in blue (I noticed earlier that they have black too), and some dark greyish casual trousers like combats that were also on the same kind of soft waistband. They had navy ones on the sale rail for about £5! It's nice for ds to have something other than joggers to wear

But are these trousers/jeans quite stretchy for the wider boy??? TIA x

magso · 11/03/2010 08:50

Thanks! Ds can only cope with elastic tops. Tesco have/had some plainish elastic top fabric trousers too - Have stocked up.
Zara sometimes have elastic top trousers in their basic range, but did not seem to have got any in yet. Anyone know of a source of elastic school trousers for older kids? Ds likes to look like the others.

deepbreath · 11/03/2010 10:12

devientenigma, they are a loose fit through the hips and legs, and the denim isn't as rigid as cardboard. I think they might be too loose on a slim child.

I noticed that they had up to age 13/14 in Tesco Extra near me, which is great, as you rarely see jeans and trousers on full elastic waistbands past age 10.

We've just got DS2 some from Next, sort of combat style one but in plain colours. They are great as he has mega long legs but a skinny waist.

devientenigma · 11/03/2010 19:26

Been to tesco here and elastic stops at 7-8yrs!!!! Will look around in other Tescos though.
Will also look in H&M, cheers.
PipinJo and deepbreath ds is a short dumpy jogging bottom nappy wearing downs so thanks.
Pixel Thanks for the thread!!!

These trousers have an elasticated waist. They are soft and stretchy with space for a nappy.

school trousers

Ds is a chunky lad. I ended up getting him school trousers from M&S, the more expensive ones have adjustable waists. I got a bigger size so I could leave them loose enough for him to pull down without undoing button, then shortened the legs. He looks very smart!

Meant to say I got age 13 (ds nearly 10, told you he was chunky) and they still have adjustable waists which I thought was good as I haven't seen them anywhere else for that age.

Devientenigma, you might be able to get some online. Just had a quick look and found these, they go up to 12/13. There might be others.

M and S have some new elastic waist cargo jeans (dearer than Tesco) but Marks are good at ordering in.( I will try and notice the biggest size - they had ds 10/11 in stock)
