our ds loves computers and going on different websites............. I like the fact there is an area a) that he is really good at and b) where verbal communication is not the be all and end all (he can have a bit of a break from speech and language therapy). So i rather like this article be it fact or not!

Ds1 used to have a big obsession with the computer. It actually helped his communication skills and turntaking. It was one of the few activities he was happy to let us join in with. It was great for his hand-eye co-ordination and also a good way for him to use his literacy skills. He couldn't hold a pencil at 3 but could easily type in his name, his computer password and several cheat codes. It was also useful because when he had to use basic computer programmes at school for literacy and numeracy he could get on with playing the actual games without having to learn how to use a mouse and keyboard first.
