Please go and see this if you have a child on the spectrum (or any child with a disability). It's on general release so should be at your local odeon. Is about an Indian man with Aspergers/autism who comes to America. Absolutely fab film. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Never heard of it, but might try pursuade DH to take us during the week. Thanks

Is it in hindi with english subt or in english? Cheers.

nikos · 14/02/2010 19:20

It's mainly in English because it's set in America but subtitles are used when the Indians are speaking toeach other in Hindi.Wasn't a distraction to have the subtitiles.Saw it last night and can't stop thinking about it today. It was so good to see a positive portrayal of disability and I think, given how hard it is to depict a person with autism because of the wide range of the spectrum, they did it very well.
Please go, you will love it.

I want to go and see it but have no one to go with (dh doesn't like the cinema) .

Amani · 17/02/2010 12:26

I went to see it and it is such a fab film, touching on lots of diffirent issues about disability and the world we live in after 9/11. Recommend it to all to see.

Marne · 17/02/2010 12:38

I can't find a cinema near me thats showing it , i will have to wait for it to come out on DVD.

nikos · 17/02/2010 14:35

Its being shown through odeon cinemas so itmight come to you in another few weeks.

Marne · 17/02/2010 14:44

my nearest Odeon is 30 miles away , why isn't being shown at other cinemas?

nikos · 17/02/2010 15:14

Probably will be soon.
I saw a web interview with the lead actor and he showed such understanding of autism, even using words like 'neuroatypical' . He spent a year and a half researching the character and even spent his day to day life in character. His hard work shows.

I've watched it about 5 times now and am still in floods of tears (in a good, cleansing way) every time I watch it.
