AIBU - ds sensory issues and writing slope

ds finally has a writing slope at school after a visit from the OT (school were refusing to do anything) but he is a bit upset because it is dirty and scratched and he is finding it distracting (sensory issues).

I suggested a sheet of paper taped over it to cover it, and he thought that would work. AIBU to suggest this to the school?

They are prob already unhappy about having to provide it!

how about a desk mat to cover it up? he might feel the scratches through paper.

i know its not what you're asking but have you seen this as a cheap alternative maybe for home?

wow that ikea one is fab, and really cheap! I am tempted now to jsut get two of those and give on tot he school, thanks glittery!

The desk mat is an idea, but I have a feeling it is going to be squishy, and make writing harder for him. He finds it hard to maintain the correct pressure as it is.
