Help..advice on supportive mainstream schools in Bexley area (AS)

Re my earlier post on Statement support for my ds...am faced with having to move him to another school where strategies will be put in place for him. Any advice on schools in my area?? I live near Bexleyheath.

St Stephens in Welling.......... I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Thats great to know. It's a school I've visited and was very impressed. Is it catholic? What sort of SEN support have they in place for ASD?

I'm just so stuck and have to make some decisions and it's so hard when schools say they will do things but in reality they don't.

Yes it catholic. DS went there for reception and yr1. There was a girl in his class with sn and she was supported by a fantastice CA and they were 100% better than the school DS is at now. They deal with things properly IMO.. everything not just SN, bulling etc.
DS hates his new school and I don't like it much either, its supposed to be good but its not.
I wish we'd never moved
St Stephens have built such a good atmosphere within, the older ones look after the little ones.

Don't get me wrong it isn't perfect, but its as good as it gets.

Where is your ds now? My dd (6) has been really happy at the school they are in (Crook Log) but my ds (ASD) is really struggling. I have no idea how to find a better place and have a horrid fear of out of the frying pan into the fire. Sorry to hear about your move not being successul.

The Gordon School in Eltham. St stephens is a good school. Only a thought though its horrendous to park if you have to drive.

Blimey Xena, it does have a good reputation in general. I am extremely sorry it is not working out for your ds
St Stephen's sounds lovely. I hope it turns out to be the right place for you Midgeymoo.

The trouble is Marina its lived on it reputation to long IYSWIM, lots of people are getting fed up, more bad teachers than good. Hopefully the new head will improve things.
