Omg i was so scared this morning i went into girls bedroom because kayleigh-may was crying, she is sat up in her bed and her tube is wrapped all around her neck!!

She is pump fed thro the night and tbh it is working wonders for her but this was my nightmare happening i was so worried she would get the tube twisted around her neck as she fidgets loads when asleep.

Have any of you had same problem and what did you do to prevent it happening again? god it scared me!

oh yes we had this loads and like you so scared my dd moves to much in the night, so we stopped night feeding she also as a apnoea monitor this also can wrap round her neck that's why we dont sleep much. i dont know what to say to help as i wont take the risk. hope your ok now ?

Im ok yea thanks just so worried about it now i was always worried when we first started using the pump and we can see HUGE benefits from using it she has put on loads of weight and looks healthy, devolping better etc and the slow rate of feeding seems to be helping her reflux.

I really dont want her on pump all day long because it is going to delay everything else she has it twice a day for a hour a time as it is then 10hrs overnight.

Oh i hate being aparent!!

Can you can thread the line down the pyjama leg, out at the ankle and out of the bed there, with the pump at the foot end of the bed? I also wedge an amount of aspare line using a teddy, so it doesn't all fall to the floow and pull on the tummy.

Is she eating orally as well as the pump? We have bolus feeds every 2 to 3 hours then the pump overnight.

janmumto5 · 29/01/2010 14:46

She can eat orally yes BUT isnt great with feeding atm she is ill every other week and when ill goes of food altogther so it hit and miss atm with her feeding. But we are slowly getting there.. she cant handle bolus feeds we tryed that and even tho she on reflux meds she still vomits if bolus fed via her peg so was told to do pump feeds only.

I will try it the pyjama leg way tonught didnt even think of that doh..

Riven think what cared me most was it was wrapped 2 times round her neck then kinda around her back and shoulders was a right tangle and i was like omg!! x

All that tangle and it still didn't set the alarm off? Ours goes off when the slightest movement causes a blockage.

janmumto5 · 29/01/2010 14:58

No alarm didnt go off it was her crying cos she couldnt move..maybe it was pulling her peg which was only fitted 4th january and hurt her so woke her up and she cryed and i went in she is very tiny for her age tho and there was still some tube left draping over her bed rail x
