Just wondering what phobias your ASD children have (if any)? some of dd's little phobias make me chuckle (i know i shouldn't laugh).

We were walking out of school yesterday trying to dodge the ice, i was pulling her along when she shouted at me 'mummy you know i cant walk over holes' as we went towards the drain cover. This is one of the phobias she has had since she could walk (she cant walk over drains), she used to not be able to walk over cracks in the pavement.

I used to have a thing about making/taking telephone calls too - even to close friends. I think it was the randomness of who would pick up or what they would want. My first job I was terrible and even my last job I would e-mail where at all poss. I'm not quite so bad now but have to seal myself off from kids etc if it's anything important!

Also, I cannot write down information from a telephone call whilst still listening/talking.

I know forme it islinkedto faces- I can't talk to people either if I can't see their face. In part that's becuase Ican'ttell if I called at a bad time, pick up on nuances very wellotherwise but even with DH I have to see his face, I cannot talk to the back of his head or if he is in another room.

Ds2 hates indoor plants but particularly flowers they have to be moved out or he gets really stressed. Hates washing his hair and prefers warm, cosy, soft clothes which he then sleeps in and wears until I peel them off!! Shoes have to fit tightly and not floppy round his ankles.

I've got some myself (no AS/ASD AFAIK but I do wonder...)

Loud noises...OMG bonfire night is hell for me!
Heights! I can do them if there's a rail, or I'm restrained (like rollercoasters) but climbing ladders, not a hope!
Fish....both in the sea and also in the supermarket when it's still got it's head. Battered, I can deal with

I also don't do well with change.

And today I've been close to tears til I came home from uni. We're being assessed on our films, and have to do presentations, some were today and some are tomorrow. They're drawing each name out of a hat and over today I've felt myself get more and more nervous and worked up because I'd rather get it done, or at least know what day or time I'm doing it!

I'm doing it tomorrow but still don't know what time Oddly enough, I came home and I'm fine now.

See, I do wonder about myself sometimes...!
