hi i have a 12yr ds who is on roll at a school in kingston which he does not go to due to anxiety but i have found a referral unit in merton who would fund it the unit said the school had to refer him but which authority will pay or does anyone know who i should ring to find out.he has had a private assessment done they said he does not have aspergers but the camhs team still say he has a social communications problem so any help would be appreciated.everything takes so long he is suppose to have intence cognetive therapy but has only seen camhs once in december and we are going at the end of the month thanks in advance

I suspect you will need to speak to the Local Education Authority (LEA).
They are responsible for paying. But you may have trouble gettingthem to agree.
I would start their and ask them who you need to speak to.
Hopefully others may know more.

If it's a referral unit, all that would happen is that the Kingston school would pay back 'his' funding to the council and they could hopefully use that to pay for the unit place. HTH

Be very careful that it's not a Pupil Referal unit (PRU). These house the 'baddest of the bad' and are not places that are conducive to a child with anxiety.

If he's medically unable to attend schoolthen he is entitled to at least 5 hours per week tuition at home provided on a one-to-one basis by tutors provded and paid for by the LEA to teach him the Core National Cirriculum subjects.
