ooooo define "they"....most of Them are but some of Them are ok - ish. i speak as one who has passed through most systems with DS and have emerged on the other side. he is now officially an adult so thats a whole new ball park!

Agree totally - thanks to years of battling with social services/education/health etc etc, it has nearly torn our family apart and used our entire savings. We now have no dealings with SS after being accused of bad parenting and having Munchausens Syndrome, son has no paed even tho he has diagnosed autism, dyspraxia and hyperacusis and after thousands of pounds on private assessments finally have the statement he deserves. Evil evil bastards. Live a day in our shoes, and yes, I am bitter.

Yup thankfully a private consultant took pity on us and referred us to his nhs camhs team-otherwise we would be in the same position as you.

Oh yes, I recently complained to a local mp, who recieved a letter thjat stated that 'mr and mrs squashi have been offered respite for their autistic ds, but turned it downand are requesting a ot assessment merely to improve their housing situation'..No mention of the fact that the respite offered means half an hour to get there, drop him off for an hour then collect him again, half an hour to get back.

me and dh barely talk these days, we have no time and are numb with exhaustion. A couple of weeks ago he almost walked out on me. We used to get on so well, the pressure and stress kills your relationship.
