If so do you get them a christmas present at all? I don't usually get the teachers a present but wondered whether to get his 1:1 support a little something instead.

We do yes, both the boys ahve 1-1 (DS1 and ds2-ds3 in the SNU does not as they have a diffferent system) and I get them all something.

But I also buy for anyone who ahs to put up with ds1 , seems only fair LOL

My sons 1:1 is fantastic,so i will be getting him something little to give her and helping him make her a card. She does more than her job for my son and i really aprecaite it so i like her to know that.
If his 1:1 wasn't that good though i'd probably just make do with a card lol

Yes, last year was my DD2s first year in school and I got her 1-1 a little present - just a scented candle, nothing fancy.

meltedmarsbars · 08/12/2009 13:52

oooh yes, all my dd2's support workers (she has 4n that is 2 at each school) will get a little something, and I've sent the box of chocs for the staff room in today to let them get started early.

Mind, it won't be a very big little something. Homemade Jam? Last year we gave little pots of homemade brandy butter. That went down well.

We have that many helpers that we throw a party for them all and their kids in the summer hols every year. Then they can all meet each other too.

Riven DS doesn't even like his class teacher so she's definitely not getting a present!

ds2's class teacher & his 1 to1 both get a small gift & card.
They put a huge amount of hard work with him, his 1 to 1 has been all teary eyed when telling me about tiny achievements & his teacher spends hours of her own time planning work/strategies for him.

They both deserve a thank you from all of us.

castlesintheair · 08/12/2009 18:50

I get his 1:1 vouchers and I contribute to the class fund for the teacher/TA.

daisy5678 · 08/12/2009 20:39

I think both should get a card and present if you can afford it. It's hard work for TAs and for teachers to make sure SN kids are included and, if you think they're doing a decent job, I think it's nice to show that you appreciate that.

Riven, that you don't know who teacher is - don't you get to meet the teacher etc?

I am making mini Christmas cakes - DS2's 1:1s are fab! They probably deserve more than my slightly dubious cakes tbh, but hey-ho

I also don't know DD class teacher. DD goes to Mainstream school and spends most of her day in the SEN base. But has 3 teachers in there and at least 4 auxilliaries (sp?) that work with DD at some point in the day. So my list for gifts is very long.

nappyaddict · 09/12/2009 10:30

Mitchell I would chocolates so they can share them in that case.

Yes, chocolates or a really nice box of biscuits to put in the staff room.

Mitchell81 · 09/12/2009 11:26

Yes I agree box of chocolates for the staff room, but M&S where doing 3 for 2 on some half price bath foam/hand creams etc so bought 9 gifts for less than £15 so will send those in aswell. Packaged in christmas cellopane bags.

5inthesleighbed · 09/12/2009 11:58

I'm getting my DS2's 1:1 wine, in large quantities . She also has one of those pandora bracelets, so will look for a bead or something like that for it.

ouryve · 10/12/2009 00:05

Yes, both boys have a 1:1. I knitted for them in the summer, but they're getting stuff from M&S for Christmas. I'll also be replenishing the staffroom biccies!

MissBreezy · 10/12/2009 20:18

My son has one and this will be their first Christmas together so I think we will get her a little something! )

glittery · 10/12/2009 20:28

oooh i must just be tight!
i generally just send in a slab of that mixed ferrerro rocher with a note saying "to all the staff" love glitteryboy!
cant be doing with individual gifts, at his nursery the 1 to 1 changed every couple of days and there were about 15 of them!

nappyaddict · 10/12/2009 20:47

If he had loads I would send a shared thing too.
