It sounds like such a little thing but it was a big breakthrough here.

My friend had bought her a torch for her birthday, and she has clutched it all day. This evening on the way back from ds school she dropped it,and ds picked it up and gave it back to her.She signed thank you and leant over in her chair and put her arms round him.

"I love you XXXXXX " said ds.

I had to wipe away a tear.

It's not little at all,it's huge and it's wonderful!

(Can I just remind you though how important it is-I'm sure you know-not to just focus on signs like 'please' and 'thank you' as I see so many people do in my work as a SALT. Althoguh social niceties, they often mean very little.)

Hope I am not offending or raining on your parade.
