Venilator/humidifier thingy

Can any of you help? My colleauge (well his wife) has just had a baby with DS, and one of her problems is lots of congestion. He has been told to buy a special ventilator thing to put in her room to help her breathe, but it has to be a special baby one not a normal adult one. Could any of you translate that into an actual product - preferably one that can be sourced online?

Thanks in advance

Hi Prufrock. Is it a humidifier to release air in the room or a ventilator machine which releases vapours (like Karvol) to clear the tubes ? I think it's probably the latter. If it is Boots sell them, they are little machines you plug in and you can buy the cartridges which you change each day and then you just switch them on and they release vapours. Also if dd is very congested I always find boiling a kettle in her room a few times when she is trying to go to sleep to produce some steam helps to unblock her. Also it may help to put a bowl of water in his room to keep the air moist. Hope this helps.

prufrock you can buy from someone like betterware or even Lakeland small things that hang over radiators and the help keep the room air moist. ( obviously not a great idea in summer)

Our dd with ds has not really had much problem with this but we just did the old - steam trick as tillysmummy suggested.

My local chemist has small steam humidifiers quite reasonably priced.

Asking at places like Boots or the local chemist would be the best I guess as they would know more about particular child/adult ones.

I do know another mum whose dd with ds has a lot of problems with that and i will be seeing her next wed. I can ask her what she uses if oyu like.
