DS1 is 16 (NT), he loves to muck around with DS2 (4, ASD),and yesterday he says to DS2 'give me one!there a big smascker!' (pointing at his cheek....expecting a kiss), DS2 walloped him one as hard as he could right on the chin.
I couldn't stop laughting!

Anyone else with recent funny 'misunderstandings'???

PMSL!!!!! Your poor son!!!

Only things here I have noticed is when you ask him to count backwards from 10 he actually counts backwards whilst walking backwards . There are other examples but I can't remember them

I've just started to explain to my son who is 8 that he's autistic because he's becomming very self aware.
He hates showers and last week after swimming when my husband collected him he was making a fuss about not wanting to have a shower and yelled at my husband infont of lots of parents as its always very busy there 'I don't want to have a shower Daddy because i'm artistic so i'm not having one' (he did ofcourse after much coersion)
My husband said a few parents threw him some funny looks !
He constantly says he's artistic rather than autistic, not so much taking things literally i know, more of a mix up of words.
His speech is often quite funny though, the other evening i'd tied my hair right back and when he came in from school he told me 'oh mum,you look so handsome with your mans hairstyle'....lol,wasn't exactly the compliment i was hoping for,or look i was going for but he does give us some laughs.
He used to take some things quite literally when he was small but he's improved as he's got older though he still clearly has word finding difficulties and often comes out with the nearest word he can think of next to the one he actually wanted to think of but wasn't able.
Mysonben and Barmymummy, you both made me laugh ,it's good to just see the funny side sometimes isn't it.
