Dd2 had her review this morning at her SN nursery, her key worker from MS came as did her SALT.

When dd2 was 3 she was assessed and we were told that her speech and understanding was at the level of a 18month old, dd2 was non-verbal and didn't respond to other people.

Anyway 8 months on and dd2 is now only 3 months behind with her understanding of language and her speech is only 6 moths behind. She can sit still and complete tasks at the same level as other children her age, she's drawing detailed pictures (better than most 3 year olds), can count to 20 and last week attemted to write her own name. She's working at a 2-3 word level of speech and understanding of speech.

I'm so proud of how well she has done, i didn't realize how well she was doing as i have not got a nt to compare her with.

We discused sleep issues and the nursery has put me in contact with a sleep specialist. Whilst talking about dd's sleep problems i realized that i havn't had a full nights sleep for 6 years (since dd1 was born) and i hadn't spent a night in bed with dh since dd2 was born . I have never asked for help with her sleep (until now) as i thought its just something that you have to put up with with ASD, i now feel like a weight has been lifted by talking about it.

The future is looking good for dd2 and this just proves that early intevention really does make the difference. Dd2 has proved so many people wrong including the local pead who almost wrote her off after seeing her 6 months ago.

Just thought i would share today with you all and i hope it gives someone hope.

All the hard work from both nurseries, portage, music therapy, SALT and maybe me has payed off.

Oh Marne how wonderful! Thats just brilliant news - you must be ecstatic!

I think you need to be putting yourself first as opposed to last on that list of helpers though

Thank you , i'm so happy i could cry .

She's my little star.

She even stood up and sang to her nursery class last week (twinkle twinkle and baa baa black sheep).

She does so much at nursery that i don't hear about until i sit down with everyone for a review (every 6 months).

I think the music therapy has been the key, the therapist has been great with her (1:1 and in a group). She stopped working with him a few months ago but the nursery has taken on a Music student to work with dd2 once a week on her own. Its given her confidence and she has found her voice through music.

I am so thrilled for you!! All your hard work has paid off, she has done INCREDIBLY well by the sounds of it.

Hoping DD does nearly as well when she starts nursery in January.
