My daughter has a diagnosis of aspergers although as yet i have not got a statement for her. She will transfer to a secondary school, not this year but next. Should i try to get some kind of statement sorted before she goes. Also does anyone have any good stories about their childrens school experiences - I have heard alot of people have gaven up work because of their childrens bad experiences at school. This is worrying me as i am a single parent and enjoy working - but couldnt continue if my daughter was not coping with her school environment. I am particularly worried about bullying between classes and my child negotiating independant travel - or if indeed if independant travel is expecting too much.

yes go for a statement my ds has just moved to middle school and now its very hard to get him the help he needs luckily he is at a school where i have 2 other children so the school is much more interested in helping him but i am just putting in for a statement myself as this will secure support long term it would be much more benificial if you have a statement in place before hand. good luck
