How did you potty train your sn (asd) child, how old were they?

Looking for some advice with potty training dd2(ASD), i have tried her a few times and we have had a few wee's and poo's on potty but now she is refusing to sit on the potty, as soon as she needs a wee she cries and asks for a nappy. She hasn't really got enough understanding (only understands single words) but she seems to pick up on thing quickly.

Today her SALT cam to see her at home for a review and we talked about potty training, she said 'even if dd isn't potty trained when she starts school it won't matter' but to me it does, if she goes to main stream i don't want her to be in nappies as other children will have another reason to pick on her as well as her Autism.

Any potty training tips please?

Being as communication was the issue with us I aquired about 5 potties nd placed them at various points over the house where he was likely to see them, I figured that as he was a) unable and unwilling to tell me he needed to go and b) was so in his own world at the time he probably wouldn't think about it unless he had a visual reminder.

It did work and the only problem was being vigilant about checking the potties as of course he never told me he had used it!!! (His baby sister had a good investigation of a nice pooey potty once that I hadn't been quick enough to spot!!

have you tried coloured ping pong balls in the loo for him to pee on
the pooh issue is huge most ask for a nappy to be put on just for a pooh
my son will sit for a wee but the pooh just lingers in the pullup or floor

it is tricky
it is all down to anxiety
we are trying saccarum officale lm 10 a homeopathic remedy to try to deal with anxiety as a whole he already does not like the pull up
so hopefully we'll be out of this soon.

schools need to be more case sensitive to asd children.. contact a family have a small free booklet on potty training but really its all about doing it every 15 mins for 3 days contin uosly!!
