Piedro boots where to buy

Ds has outgrown his piedro boots but the nhs wont rpovide another pair as he will be needing afos but wont get castings till December but after seeing private orthotics specialist he recommends afos and piedro boots for ds.Either way Ds needs something as his to small and he can not walk in normal shoes so deicded tme to but a pair but cant see where to buy them any idears please

he mentioned also Ds needs the deeper boots not the style he been wearing

hmm know what size not width but then again for pair nhs provided ast time they did not check width at at.

ah i saw there website but it says they are prescription sale only and nhs wont.

There will be a number on the inside of the upper at ankle area, type it out for me (and see other thread)

if that makes any sense all i can work out from that is that hes a 24 and yes please if you do would love to take you up on the offer

Just to scare prepare you, when you finally get your casting appointment in Dec - Piedro oversplint boots are very difficult to get, can often be a long wait. That's not your crappy bit of NHS, 'tis the same everywhere.

I shall prepare you with a list of other companies which supply AFO/oversplint boots - forewarned is forearmed! And you can tell the bloody orthotist what you want

I did not know the soles came out to check fit so poor Ds feet must been squashed for a while his lenth was measured last november got his boots in February

If you see anything you like, print it and take it with you to the appointment. Orthotists (in general) are notoriously crap at keeping catalogues (some are ridiculously big, in their defence) and rely on the same old true & trusted suppliers.

wow what a choice am hoping if decide go down the route with private option.will get a lot more input not thats my sole reason for doing .Do you know if any will sell direct to parents or will orthotist b it nhs or private need to order

Do you know what company provides the Orthotist at your DSs hospital? They would have his prescription recorded and you could deal with them as a private patient, rather than the manufacturer, IYKWIM.
I work for an Orthotic company contracted to the NHS, so we are effectively the middle man in terms of buying. We have lots of private patients doing a similar thing, including me! My DSs piedro boots were supplied by the NHS, then I ordered him a pair of sandals (for summer ) privately.
They cost a bit though. I had DSs at cost price and I think they were £90-ish. Most companies add a handling charge (we do) and some add a private order surcharge too.

Reeds and Salts are very nice to deal with tho, give 'em a call or an email. They can only say no x

Gilbert & Mellish is where they came from he had piedro next steps no alterations done at all and the width must been guess work as he never checked width just lenth.The orthotic guy we saw said that ds should really had the deeper boots but oh well.Hmm not sure of the company/ middleman will need to se if can find out .

Yes I guessed they was going to be dear but seems paying is the only way anything going to happen makes new hole in belt and tightens it another notch

I do have a pair of Navy blue lace up size 28 width 4 which you can nab for future use if you want. They are off to the 3rd world otherwise.

But once ds has got the splints will need pair to go over them , have decided to go with the Dorset clinic recommendations ,dam knew i should have found me a millionaire
