What do you tell a 6 year old about an appointment with CAMHS?

Hi

DS has an appointment with CAMHS in August. It is not assessment but rather a 'support' appointment pending assessment.

I just wondered how I explained this to him.

So far, when we have seen the paediatrician, I have just said it is about his super sensitive smell/taste powers!

I haven't a clue how these appointments go, so I just wondered what to say!

Is the CAMHS coming to your home?

My son is quite a bit younger, but I've pretty much presented it as someone coming round for coffee. We've had appointments at our home and they have pretty much just chatted to the grown ups with a similar amount of interaction with the children that any adult visitor might have.

No, we're going to them.

I would contact CAMHS and ask exactly what they will be doing because it can vary a great deal from observing while you are there to watching him play in a room without you (could be filmed).
