anyone else fed up with constant passing of pots and tiny hairs splitting over where funding should come from?

this is like our groundhog day battle every time we need something - who is going to fund it - ss or lha

latest is a bed. Is it for a social or medical need? Obv need to sleep is pretty basic requirement and aye there are medical needs to consider in choice of bed.. but rather than just graciously going dutch instead its a prolonged cycle of assessment from each side

cany get beds where we are whether it is a medical or social need or not. They said "Bolton dont do beds!" Try a charity-Cauldwell Trust paid for ours-Bakare Tom Cot with extra high sides etc. Been brilliant-even if he doesnt sleep at least we dont have to be up all night with him.

MMMum we had the same with nappies,glad he's dry now. No nappies until 7 / 12 / etc

Pixie YANBU its silly. The asnwer of course is YOUnpiad for it when you / yur DP were working adn paying cuncil tax and income tax, you dont give a damn who writes the actual cheque

oh peachy the moving the nappy goalpost is a common one as well? (we're at the holy grail of 4 yo here - don't know anyone who's gotten them at 4 though)

Pixie-the paed said "why cant he sleep on the floor on a mattress like other disabled children who escape-we can get extra locks put on the door"!!!!

Needless to say we didnt go down that route, would be ok if it was our decision but I wasnt happy that the paed actually said that instead of reccommending funding!

We get nappies at 4 but only 3 A DAY!!! Regardless of need or age. "Thats what DLA is for" Apparrently

Monster - what does the paed think of the fire safety aspect of the locked door suggestion?

The nappies thing is awful - how can an incontinent 4 year old limit their peeing and pooing to a certain number of times a day? we need 6 or 7 easily, and pampers are too small for a 3 or 4 year old! We have prescibed ones now.

How can DLA be for a product you cannot buy over the counter?

The system baffles me.

As I said, in Bolton we get 3 a day from age 4, including adults! I have had countless arguments with the local authority and it would be good to have some ammo!!!

They say that the nappies are not 'free' but they are a service that the LA provides, its not statutory therefore they can provide what they think is the minimum nec.

DLA is supposed to be used to buy extra from the incontinence shop but they are expensive. DLA is magic money isnt it?-it covers everything....nappies, bedding, clothing, bibs, fuel, hospital expenses, sn toys, holidays etc etc.

Here (suffolk coastal) its free nappies from the age of 4. The HV came out & completed a continance assessment, worked out how many we would need in 24 hrs & then put the request in to the contimamce service & then we received a huge delivery.
