What are the benefits of having a social worker?

I look at lots of threads on here and it's mentioned quite a lot. I've known about DD2's sn's for well over a year now and havn't got a SS or a HV. I just wondered if we were missing out?

She has Physio/OT/SALT/Portage plus consultants in various NHS depts that we see 6 monthly.

for me absolutley zilch he came saw did assment said well could do with ..... and we erm got nothing

So not missing out at all then. What are they meant to do?
