DD, 7 has learning difficulties - can't read, writing awful, maths terrible. Also has dypraxia. Teachers & SALT now want to refer her to CAMHS but EP is reluctant. EP says we will be able to get statement becos of learning difficulties & CAMHS diagnose too quickly. Teachers & SALT are hinting at autism. DD is lovely, behaviour not a problem but has some quirks which yes, could point to autism but if it's not causing us problems do we really need to go to CAMHS? Sigh. Sorry, haven't stopped thinking about this for weeks & just want to come to a decision & stop thinking about it. DD about to go into juniors. Getting jittery.

Why do the teachers and salt want to refer her?

ds1 has dyspraxia and has asd traits, it seems to be very common with dyspraxia and I think I would also be worried about another dx she doesn't need.

Maybe you could see how she copes with the transition to junior school and then see if you need camhs?
