where can a 15 year old with mulitple special needs go after high school?

I know a little girl (15) who will soon be coming to end of school.. she needs somewhere to go - a colllege to teach life skills or something or she will be lost- any one know of any good centres she ia adhd- dispraxic/ dislexic and possible autistic spectrum etc.. would be so grateful for any advice

have her parents been in touch with social services?

i know both our local college and adult education centre ruin schemes? would presume you either have to go through the LEA or social services

her parents have been through social services nhs - everyone she is still be referred and re-referred since she was 6- she hasn't got a 'label' but even to the untrained eye she clearly has significant social and learning difficulties- she is currently in a special unit within mainstream

Surely the local Connextions team should have been contacted by the school to discuss the possible future education of this girl....I would advise the girls parents to ask SENCO to arrange a meeting with the Connextions officer responsible for the school.

can anyone recognise this behaviour- does it ring any bells because her parents and i are all using guesswork to a cerain extent....

she has a large nextwork of imaginary friends which she uses- by talking to -to cope with everyday situations- she assumes the role of these identities and talks about herself in the third person/( but knows she is doing it) ... she acts more like a 8 year old generally and writes and reads like one....... she uses television characters behaviour as role models ans as cues to how she should behave in social situations ...

Hi toria77 I am not familiar with any services within the Wales area, sorry, but I have a 9 year old girl with Asperger Syndrome who in the past has had various imaginary friends whom she has used to deal with difficult social situations. It is also very common for people with AS to use the third person when referring to themselves. My dd also mimics set phrases from television characters in RL social situations. Hope this little girl gets the right support soon.

Can't help with speciics but I believe there's a very strong autistic society in Wales, Autism Cymru or something (forgive spelling) and the NAS has Council members from Wales, presumably branches too. Hopefully good source of info?
