Hi girls. We're going at the beginning of August and are staying in the bungalow. Jayzmum, I'm going to CAT you cos there's some things I want to ask you about it and what you need to take.

cant help esbee - my ds is only 20 months. But what you are suggesting sounds spot on to me.

I know we said to ds1 (8 years) that we were going to a very special place, with lots of kind people who were going to try and give us lots of help to make life easier for ds2.

Jayzmummy · 12/05/2005 14:09

We sat Jdown and chatted with him about all the things he doesnt like...noise being his main difficulty.

Then we told him we were going to a special place that has lots of people who know about the things that make his ears hurt and that these people know of special games you can play which help to make the noises get better.

Fun, fun, fun....thats what we told him. The pool is a definate point scorer and so is the sensory room...we just built up all the positives and I'm pretty sure it helped J understand that we were going to BIBIC because we needed to know how to make his life better.

Essbee I have CAT'd you...can tell you about some of the things you might want to take with you...such a shame we will miss you by just a few days...Yorkee who posts here sometimes is going to be sharing the Bungalow with us... I'm really looking forward to our time away.

Oh my goodness - its come round quick hasn't it?

Jayzmummy · 23/05/2005 14:03

essbee, dont worry to much about being at the bungalow alone....its not that bad!!!! Dont forget to pack your swimmies....the sensory pool is an excellent way to destress after a day of assessments....make sure you book a slot in the pool first thing....make it for the end of the day....perfect way to unwind.
