Cheap supportive boots any ideas where to get any.

Ds2 has to wear boots to give him the support and stability he needs.The boots he wears are really expensive and I can't afford to buy him 2 pairs.
He has come home from nursery with his boots insoles and socks soaked in wee as nursery had taken it upon themselves to try potty training him.
I would like to get him something else to send him to nursery preferably 2 pairs so he doesn't have to sit in wet shoes all day.
Anyone got any ideas.The boots cant have rubber at the toes as this trips him up.
Poor kids crying now because he wants to play outside but he cant as his shoes are in the tumble dryer.

Suggest that you tell the nursery not to interfere and that you will tell them when you decide to potty train!

I do intend having that disucusion next week along with lots of other things.The only thing I can think of is that he went to nursery with a pair of pants over his nappy as he wanted to be a big boy .Not sure why they thought that gave them the right to start training him never mind showing him to wee stood up.

meea - does he wear Piedro boots? If so, would the physio not give you two pairs maybe?
If he doesn't have Piedro boots it would be worth asking his physio about them.

I agree with the others about the potty training - the nursery should be taking their lead from you. Hope the boots are clean for your ds to play in now, poor wee guy

He used to have piedro's but physio said he needs the ankle support but a more flexible sole to help his arches develop.
So we are left buying expensive hard to find boots.His last pair had to be imported from germany.

Eeeek! Are there are any local charities that you could apply to for help with buying them maybe?

I've been considering a cheap pair, similar in style to Caterpillars, from one of the mail order companies. DD used to wear ds's old cat bots, and even the orthotist commented on them. But they are about £40 a pair.

I really need to get dd something to wear to nursery, and I was thinking about a cheaper alternative, something high at the ankle to give her a bit of support, but still let her wear little frilly socks or something with them!
The pair I was looking at was £15, BOGOF, and came in pink or beige.

If you go to your Local Clarks and ask if they have any winter stock left.

When the sales finish they take the remainding stock and store it in a dusty room until their next sale. You could get a real bargain.

Other than that try one of their factory stores.

DD2 gets footwear supplied by hospital. One pair at a time, but we get to choose style/colour within range offered. We can get others if we need to for indoor shoes at nursery, but we pay for those ourselves. got sandshoe-type (canvas) boots with strengthened ankles last year from Verbaudet for wearing indoors/hot days, but she can only wear them part of the day.

Oh Meea, this sounds impossible - but I do remember your previous posts about problems with orthotics and shoes.
I still think it is outrageous you have to pay for his footwear - can you get your GP to write a letter saying how it ought to be provided? If they can pay for Piedros (after all, they simply buy them from the manufacturers) they should pay for his boots.

I think this is serious - not being able to get wet feet affects a child's ability to play outside in the rain etc, not being ablr to jump oin puddles affects a child's physical enjoyment and confidence, and further separates SN children from groups of friends. And in fact, when the time is right and in partnership with you, nursery SHOULD be able to help encourage potty training without extra worries about shoes - just like any other child. I was lucky, DS's physio made this srgument to the orthotics people - actually, I would write to your MP and tell them all this. Honestly..
