How on earth can I get calcium into my son? (ASD)

Right, so if I have it right, cow's milk will worsen his ASD, soya will make him infertile, and now rice milk will give him cancer (arsenic).

I've been using rice milk fortified with calcium and vitamin D up to now, and still am to be honest, but am not happy to continue to do so because of the recent FSA announcement.

His dietician we spoke to a few months ago said he needs about 600mg a day of calcium, and he'll only be receiving about 100mg from food alone.

I was looking at a calcium and vitamin D supplement from Biocare from dietary needs direct which is fine for those on the gf/cf diet, except that it contains soya.

Any recommendations for a calcium supplement which is suitable for those on the gf/cf diet which doesn't contain soya? Or casein? Or fricking arsenic???

Can't get on the autism medical website - well, I can view it but it won't let me post, keeps saying my log in details are wrong and I can't find a contact address for them.

Any help MUCH appreciated.

Have you tried goats milk catski? its high incalcium and contains casien 2 protien rather that the type 1 thats in cows milk, I would check with the dietician first as it mayor may not be suitable, my dd who is ASD seems to be able to tolerate it fine.

Thanks rosie - I will see if I can find it here. No point my asking the dietician as she doesn't know anything about following the diet for autism reasons - it's unheard of where I am (sweden).

This is probabily the worst advice I have ever heard but I will repeat it anyway.
I was told by the paed specialist nurse that jelly sweets (like Haribo) contain good amounts of calcium to help boost a calcium lacking diet.

Anyway I've never looked it up to see if its true as I didn't want him to have rotting teeth as well, but if you are desperate....

I'm sure it's the advice kids love to hear! Sounds similar to the 'you'll have lovely nails if you eat a cube of jelly a day' theory.
