My younger brother has Downs Syndrome and was born with a hole in his heart. He had open heart surgery when he was young, and has grown up to be a very lovely boy of 16 (well mostly lovely; he is a teenager after all!)

But the time has come for him to have more major surgery due to leaking from the area of his previous op. So you can imagine how tense the family is, esp mum, as we wait for a date. It'll most likely be in June.

Anyway, this morning he has gone on a school trip to Haven in Devon for the week. My DS asked him where he was going, and he couldn't remember so DB asked mum and she said 'Devon'. He though for a second and asked 'Am i going to Heaven?'. Now all this was was a simple mix up of Haven and Devon. Mum sent him off in his taxi to school and just burst into tears. It was heartbreaking.

Just a simple mix up of words but it couldn't have come at a worse time

Sorry about the long post. Just wanted to get that out really.

Thank you Sibling.

Oh I feel like crying just reading that.

Fingers crossed all goes to plan for his surgery, and that he has a good time on his hols.
