Got a letter home to say that there will be a multi agency meeting about DS next Tuesday. What should I expect?

We started the assessment process with him 2 years back & have no answers yet. He came home with the letter in his bookbag today to say multi agency meeting is on Tuesday. Feeling a little churned up again even though I know it needs to be done & we need answers. I feel worried & stressed at the thought of it though.
What should I expect from this meeting?

I would expect it to be about how he's progressing and what needs to be done next. Do ring and ask what the purpose of the meeting is though, just to set your mind at rest and so you can be sure that you're prepared.

We received our diagnosis at a multidisciplinary meeting. All agencies involved met, with me present, and we discussed the ICD-10 criteria for autism stage by stage. The paed then agreed DS filled all the criteria and the diagnosis was given

Is it possible you too are at this stage? Or is this a meeting to assess progress and formulate an action plan. Who has called the meeting - school or your paed? I would do as givemesleep suggests, so you know who will be attending and what you are preparing for.

I would see it as a good step though, so good luck .

I think school called the meeting. Feeling very nervous about it for some reason even though it is of course a positive thing that needs doing. Not sure if we will get answers but we really need some.

They just get together and discuss...I was invited to one and it seemd no one had any idea on anything...pointless in my case.

ok, doesn't sound like a diagnostic meeting, but school getting all agenices together to thrash out an action plan. Still useful though if the professionals are any good.
