last sept/oct i applied to a few charities for ds's Tomcat trike with no reply, ended up getting the £1555 from the Family fund last month (picking it up next Saturday!)
Within a few days of ordering it two of the charities called to say they wanted to help....typical!
one was a small local one the other one was the Cauldwell trust who along with another charity had already pledgeded £20,000 towards his Dragonmobility powerchair (first trial/fitting 11th July!)
last week the other charity Children Today sent a letter saying they were offering £855 towards the trike!
i've been looking at the Delichon Delta all terrain buggy so asked if they would consider letting me use the money for that instead, just had a call to say yes no problem! Yay!
It will be great as it folds completely flat so wont take up a lot of space and means we can go abroad with my mum and dad next year. (i didnt want to take his wheelchair on the plane as it doesnt come apart too easily and was scared it'd get damaged)
Also when he gets his powerchair i can have that in the car as a backup if he gives up or gets a flat battery or something!
she reckons i'll get it within 3/4 weeks so will have it for over the summer so will be able to go lots of places the wheelchairs small wheels cant handle!
It really means a lot as im a single parent with no hope of affording the things ds needs on my own....almost cried on the phone
