Just found 'our story' on my computer

About 3 years ago, I wrote our story out on my computer, all those feelings, all the emotions that everyone goes through when their child is diagnosed.. what a long way I have come...

That sounds like a really good idea - I might do 'our story' and then store it somewhere for the future. It'd probably be very cathartic.

Did it help you exorcise some of `those' feelings by writing it down..I've toyed with the idea of doing something similar.

It did help, TBh I forgot it was on the computer, and was going through my files to delete anything that was taking space, and came across it, it certain made interesting reading, It was about 2 years after Ds's diagnosis but only about 10 months after DD1's diagnosis. Made me see exactly how far I have come...

it is a great exercise chonky - I have been asked a couple of times to write our story and looking at it now it seems like we went through so much and time seems to dull the memory BUT it is also brilliant to look back and as sparkly says - see how far you have come.

Sparkly, how nice to hear that discovering Your Story has been positive, its a great idea to write one.

Something I used to do when DS was a lot younger is write his diary for his ABA tutors to read so they coudl understand him better and get a bigger picture of him. I find that his home/school book has taken over from that and I do treat it a bit as his diary.

I have our story too, both on PC and a blow- by- blow diary account. I don't read the diary too often because it still reduces me to tears 11 years on .......one part of it is my plans for her funeral . But it did me good to do it at the time and like you mieow it shows how far we've come
