Speech & Language starts tomorrow but if anything like today am worried

We had paed appt today (got a cancellation)and
s&l session at the same clinic tomorrow.DS is 2.10 and highly likely ASD. AT appt today he was just obsessed with her telephone and pc and we ended up doing the session verbally with him sitting at her desk playing with the phone. She tried everything but he didnt want to know. Was going to ask tmw but feel really silly if she could cover her phone and pc as I know same thing will happen. Dreading it.

sounds very sensible to ask them to cover the phone and pc. I cover my tv at home sometimes.

Appt was a lot better than yesterday. I rang beforehand and asked her to cover the phone and PC and she did and glad I did cos the first thing he did was go for her desk! It was a relatively good session and she interacted really well with him not like yesterday.He used the word "more" quite a lot with the games she played and said "go" after ready,steady which he hadn't done before. She even managed to get him to sit for 3/4 occasions which didn't happen yesterday.Think that these sessions will be beneficial but not expecting miracles! These last few days have been stressful. Gutted that the paed's report will take a minimum of 4 weeks though.

Hi just wanted to say that sometimes those kind of sessions that are difficult can tell us more about children than anything. I know it can be a bit of a nightmare for parents but as a professional it can teach us a lot about the child. Good luck
