What to expect from appt with community paediatrician - DS has been referred by HV for possible Aspergers

Myself and HV have spotted various signs in ds1 (3.5 years) of Aspergers.
HV sent off a referral to start the assessment process.
Appt just came through for 2 weeks time.

What sort of thing will happen at this first appt? It says its with a community paediatrician... will they actually be the one to assess him going forward or is this more likely to be an info gathering meeting to see who to refer Ds to?

They will ask you about the history in development from birth until now. Do a developmental assessment maybe. Ask questions on does he do this or that which you will need to answer yes/no/don't know and maybe provide examples. They may refer your son to other professionals depending on if they feel they need too given the details you have told them. Usual professionals, audiology for hearing, speech and language therapist for receptive/expressive language and social interaction/communication or impairments in speech, Occupational Therapist for daily personal skills, visual motor perception, sensory issues or other things.
If your child has behaviour such as obsessions, routines or rituals, possible anxiety difficulties, toileting difficulties they may refer them to child clinical psychologist or a specialist for the toileting difficulties.
They may want to wait and see before doing any of these things or whilst these things are in place, waiting lists can be long for some of these services.
In some areas I believe it is possible to get assessed by all professionals in one setting and one day.
Either way these professionals gather all the reports together including yours in the end which may take a good while and decide to diagnose or not.
