we haven't seen a paediatrician since last June and were meant to have an appointment tomorrow. Have just found out that the consultant has passed away . He was a lovely man and really good with the children. Quite sad really because he was pulled out or retirement in order to cover for our usual paediatrician who is on long term sick leave with cancer and has just found out that it's terminal. It's a really sad situation but I do feel disappointed as we have loads of stuff we need to discuss with a paediatrician and now they can't even give me a vague idea of when the appointment will be. Paediatrics, obviously a dangerous job to go into..

how awful. would there be any point in getting referred to another hospital, as it's bound to take some time for them to sort out staffing.

How horrible. I'm really fond of DD's paeds. I suppose I never really needed to see any doctors frequently enough before to get any kind of relationship with them.
